Despite its modern feel, Rockville actually dates back to 8000 B.C.; Native American nomads, who had gathered in the area, would eventually settle here to farm in the 1st millennium B.C. Rockville real estate owners are proud of the town’s long history and are committed to its preservation. In 1974, a non-profit organization was formed to preserve many of the city’s landmarks including the B&O Railroad Station.
In 2004 when the Rockville Mayor announced plans to renovate the Rockville Town Square, including building new stores and housing and relocating the city’s library. The new Rockville Town Center has been totally transformed and includes a number of boutiques, restaurants, condominiums and apartments, as well as stages, fountains and the Rockville Library. The city’s proximity to Washington, D.C. plus the strong presence of the Federal Government, technology and biotech companies makes Rockville real estate an ideal choice for commuters, students, and families. Homebuyers can choose from established neighborhoods as well as newer Rockville real estate developments including King Farm which has a wonderful mix of residential lifestyles from condos to townhomes and single family houses.
